Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a highly reputable and ancient method of healing that can treat everyday common complaints without the unwanted side effects of medication. It is the practice of inserting small, sterilized filiform needles (the width of a cat’s whisker) into specific points on the body. Based on traditional Chinese medicine, the body is composed of various meridians and pathways that can relate energetically to specific organs. In the Western world, we call these fascial planes.

Acupuncture is used to…

  • increase circulation, but stimulating nitric oxide

  • release muscle tension by accessing muscle trigger points

  • produce our body’s natural opiate-like chemicals, endorphins to relieve stress and anxiety

  • reduce stress with vasodilation

  • stimulate the parasympathetic system (you may hear your belly begin to gurlge, a key sign that your parasympathetic system has kicked in)

  • regulate the immune system with the stimulation of red and white blood cell production

  • regulate the inflammatory response thus reducing inflammation by stimulating histamine
